Questions for Home Owners

  1. What is a home warranty, homewarranty plan or home protection plan?
A HomeGuard HomeWarranty is a one-year service contract that helps protect homeowners against the cost of unexpected covered repairs or replacement on their major systems or appliances that break down due to normal wear and tear.
  2. What is a basic home warranty?
Basic Coverage for a home measuring under 5,000 feet includes:Dishwasher, Range/Oven/Cooktop, Built-in Microwave oven, Garbage Disposal, Trash Compactor, Instant Hot Water Dispenser, Door Bells, Smoke Detectors, Telephone Wiring, Primary Heating System, Plumbing System and Stoppages, Electrical System, Central Vacuum System, Garage Door Opener, Ceiling, Attic and Exhaust Fans, Water Heater, Pest Control.
  3. What’s not covered?
The contract covers only those parts, systems and appliances specifically mentioned as covered and excludes all others. The contract does not cover system or appliance failures due to lack of maintenance. Items covered must be located within the main foundation of the home or garage.
  4. What do I do when a covered system or appliance breaks down?
Customers may request service by filling out our Online Claims Processing Page or by calling (866) 993-2302. Special considerations or efforts will be made for service requests that render the home uninhabitable.
  5. What do I have to pay the technician when they arrive for service?
The homeowner will have to pay a $85 deductible for each trade. There may be multiple trades required for one problem. The homeowner will not have to pay an additional deductible each time a tradesperson comes to look at the same problem. Additional charges may also apply to specific repairs and replacement.
If another service claim is made on an additional breakdown in a different area of coverage the homeowner will have to pay an additional deductible. For example, if a homeowner pays a deductible for repairs on a plumbing stoppage they will also have to pay a deductible on repairs to the broken appliance.
  6. Is a HomeGuard HomeWarranty Home protection plan renewable?
The HomeGuard HomeWarranty protection plan is renewable. HomeGuard HomeWarranty will notify the homeowner when their coverage expires.
  7. Does the age of my home matter when I buy a HomeGuard HomeWarranty protection plan?
No, the age of the home nor the age of the systems and appliances themselves does not matter when buying a HomeGuard HomeWarranty.
  8. Is a HomeGuard Inc. property inspection necessary before I buy a HomeGuard HomeWarranty?
No, a property inspection is not required before you buy a home warranty whether it is done by HomeGuard Inc. or any home inspection company.
